Patrick Hanes Named Co-Chair of ABA's White Collar Crime Regional Committee
Congratulations to Patrick Hanes, who was recently named co-chair of the American Bar Association's White Collar Crime Regional Committee for the Southeast Region. The mission of the committee is "to educate and be a resource for practitioners on those aspects of white collar criminal law that impact businesses and executives and to review and analyze the government's efforts to regulate business conduct via criminal investigations and prosecutions."
Patrick focuses his practice on handling all manner of disputes that arise from business competition and regulation. He is a member of the Litigation Section and serves as co-chair of the White Collar and Investigations Team. His practice has included a broad base of civil and criminal litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. In addition, Patrick has substantial experience conducting investigations both in the United States and overseas. He has represented businesses and individuals in government and corporate investigations in matters involving securities and banking regulation, antitrust, conspiracy, wire fraud, tax disputes, environmental laws and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
He also serves on the section council of the Criminal Section of the Virginia Bar Association and as an adjunct professor at the Washington & Lee Law School teaching Corporate and Government Investigations. In those roles, he has been deeply involved in the organization of the white collar bar in Virginia, and he hopes to use his role on the ABA Regional Committee to facilitate a better partnership between state, regional and national efforts to improve and enhance the practice area in the Southeast.
