Sean Hicks Named ‘Young Lawyer of the Year’ by The Bar Association of the City of Richmond
Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that Sean Hicks has been named ‘Young Lawyer of the Year’ by the Bar Association of the City of Richmond.
Sean joined Williams Mullen as an associate in the Financial Services and Real Estate Section where he represents developers, investors, businesses, lenders, landlords and tenants in all facets of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing and leasing. Sean has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of the City of Richmond’s Real Estate Section for the past four years, including serving in various capacities as an officer of the Section.
Sean is listed in Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2017, 2019) for Real Estate Law, and he has been named among Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine (2017-present). Prior to entering private practice, Sean was a law clerk to the Honorable Harry L. Carrico, Senior Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
In addition to the work he does with the Bar Association of the City of Richmond’s Real Estate Section in assisting developers in buying, selling, leasing and bringing developments to completion, Sean also volunteers time and services on a pro bono basis to local community providers, including a historic church and child care center located in the city’s Fan District.
Established in 2011, the Young Lawyer of the Year Award is presented by the Bar Association of the City of Richmond to a member of its Young Lawyers Section. The award is given to a young lawyer who has excelled in the practice of law to date and who has shown the potential to become a leader in the legal profession in one or more of the following ways:
- By exceeding the expectations of clients and employers;
- By providing service to the community outside the practice of law:
- By changing and improving perceptions of the legal profession in the Greater Richmond community; and
- By taking a non-traditional path to success in the practice of law
