
John M. McInnis
John McInnis focuses his practice on providing legal guidance to contractors, developers, property owners, and engineers. He has experience assisting clients with navigating the legal complexities of construction projects through construction litigation, contract negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution.
John prioritizes his clients’ interests through all stages, including construction defect claims, contract drafting and enforcement, mechanics’ liens, payment disputes, and regulatory compliance. Whether handling mediation, arbitration, or litigation, he provides a strategic approach that is solutions-driven to keep projects on track and minimize risks.
John offers valuable insights to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines regarding construction laws, insurance matters, and industry regulations, such as AIA contracts, DBIA agreements, and local building codes.
John also has experience in real estate litigation. In his practice, he has effectively counseled clients, both landlords and tenants, when disputes arise over their respective rights and obligations under leases. He has also assisted in easement actions and actions involving homeowners’ associations and commercial condominium owners’ associations. John also represents buyers and sellers when disputes arise over the sale of property.
John earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law, and his Master of Public Administration degree and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.
