Richard Clagett

Richard Clagett advises public and private companies, with a particular focus on the senior housing industry. He regularly assists investors, owners and operators with skilled nursing, assisted living, continuing care retirement community and independent living transactions.

Before joining Williams Mullen, Richard was an associate with a law firm in Southwest Virginia where he handled residential real estate transactions, business formations, and other transactional matters.

Richard earned his Juris Doctor degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he was a Staff Writer and Articles Editor for the Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment. While in law school, he was an extern in the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
