Williams Mullen is looking for talented, hardworking, service-focused law students from across the country to join our class of summer associates.

Summer Associate Program

Williams Mullen hosts its Summer Associate Program in offices throughout our footprint. Our Summer Associates consist of 2Ls along with our 1L Diversity Fellows. Students participating in this program will experience life much like a first-year associate. You’ll rotate through several practice areas throughout the summer. You’ll receive challenging assignments and participate in knowledge and skills development programs. You’ll get to know leadership, our attorneys and professional staff through attending social events. You’ll get to know our firm culture and how we are finding yes for our clients and each other.

Through supervising attorneys, you receive in-depth feedback. You’ll work with an associate mentor, a partner mentor and a supervising attorney paired with you based on personal and professional interests. Summer associates have an option to spend six or nine weeks with us. Upon successful completion of the Summer Associate Program, you will be considered for first-year associate positions in those offices.

1L Diversity Fellowship Program

Diversity at Williams Mullen is a core value, not a catch phrase. We understand that a diverse and inclusive workplace makes us better at what we do – serving our clients and our communities. We are committed to employing a diverse workforce that is inclusive of race, sex, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, nationality, age, disability, marital and parental status and veteran status.

Williams Mullen will award two 1L law students with (1) a $3,000 scholarship to be applied to the student’s second year tuition and (2) a paid 9-week position in Williams Mullen’s 2025 Summer Associate Program in our following offices: Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC. This award is contingent upon accepting an offer of summer employment at Williams Mullen.
