Four Richmond-Area High School Teams Named 2015-16 Williams Mullen Teams of the Year
For the eighth consecutive year, Williams Mullen is proud to recognize four Richmond-area High School sports teams as "Teams of the Year" as part of the Richmond Times-Dispatch/Richmond Sports Backers scholar-athlete of the year program. Each winner received a $1,000 award, while each runner-up received a $500 award. For more, click here.
Boys Winner: Highland Springs High School Football
The Springers went 14-1 and captured the 5A State Championship for the first time since 1961.
Girls Winner: Atlee High School Softball
The Raiders won their second consecutive state championship. In the last two years, they have gone 43-8 overall.
Boys Runner-Up: Hanover High School Baseball
The Hawks went 24-1 to win their third state title in four years. They finished the season ranked 4th in the country by USA Today.
Girls Runner-Up: Deep Run High School Tennis
The Wildcats went undefeated and won the state championship with a lineup of All-Metro Player of the Year Nina Sorkin and five freshmen.
