William A. Truban, III
William Truban advises clients on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including compliance with employment laws and regulations, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the WARN Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and Virginia employment laws, as well as education matters.
Additionally, William provides human resources advice and counseling, including development of company policies, drafting employment handbooks, preparing employment contracts, and advising on terminations, reduction in force plans, restrictive covenants, whistleblower claims, and internal investigations.
William assists clients in commercial litigation matters, including business and employment litigation, from the pre-filing stage through settlement negotiations and trial. He also represents clients in the defense of EEOC charges of discrimination.
He served as a legal extern for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Office of Chief Counsel in the summer of 2021 and as an extern for the Hampton Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in the summer of 2020.
William earned his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Virginia, Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy with high distinction.
William is admitted to practice in all Virginia state courts, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia and Western District of Virginia.
