Williams Mullen Further Enhances Growth with Addition of 10 Attorneys
The following attorneys from the law firm of KVCF have joined Williams Mullen. The firm previously announced plans for the move in August.
Thomas G. Voekler, Richard P. “Chip” Cunningham, Jr., S. Edward Flanagan, Cindy J. Heidel, Stephanie P. Karn, Kathy A. Lawrence, Mehanna C. Borostyan, Melanie J. Ramsey and John L. Watson have joined the firm’s Richmond office and T. Rhys James has joined the firm’s Virginia Beach office.
Voekler joins the firm as a partner, where he focuses his practice on corporate finance, public and private securities offerings, and private equity and corporate governance issues, with a particular focus on real estate investment trusts (REITs), 1031 syndications (Delaware Statutory Trusts (DST)/Tenant in Common (TIC)), and private placements of real estate investments and other offerings. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the College of William & Mary School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University.
Cunningham joins the firm as a partner, where he focuses his practice on securities matters related to real estate private equity and fund formation, REITs and other tax-advantaged investments. He works diligently to provide clients with innovative and creative solutions to help structure their operations, raise and deploy capital, and grow value for their stakeholders. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Virginia.
Flanagan joins the firm as a partner, where he counsels clients on a broad array of commercial real estate matters, including the purchase and sale of developed and undeveloped real estate, and the negotiation of related real estate financings, joint ventures and development-related work. Ed is actively engaged in all facets of real estate syndications (TIC syndications, DST syndications, real estate funds, etc.), having represented many syndication sponsors since their inception. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph Macon College.
Heidel joins the firm as a partner, where she is a skilled commercial real estate attorney with extensive experience representing clients nationally through financing, acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, portfolio transactions, as well as title and survey matters. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Missouri.
Karn joins the firm as a partner, where she focuses her practice on employment matters, issues involving colleges and universities, and general litigation and advises employers, including colleges and universities, on ways to avoid litigation and/or reduce exposure to litigation claims. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William & Mary.
Lawrence joins the firm as a partner, where she focuses her practice on the representation of public and private companies, including REITs and other direct participation programs, in a variety of corporate and securities matters and capital markets transactions. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the College of William & Mary School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia.
Borostyan joins the firm as an associate, where she focuses her practice on securities offerings, private equity, and ongoing corporate and securities compliance. She has experience advising various corporate clients on general corporate matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, tax, and government contracts compliance. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Vermont.
Ramsey joins the firm as an associate, where she works on an assortment of commercial real estate and financing transactions. Melanie regularly assists investors, corporate clients and individuals in matters that include financing, acquisition, leasing, development, and disposition of properties. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kentucky David J. Rosenberg College of Law, her Master of Science degree and Bachelor of Arts degree from Lee University.
Watson joins the firm as an associate, where he focuses his practice on securities offerings, corporate finance, ongoing securities law compliance, and general corporate matters and is experienced in advising issuers, broker-dealers, investment advisers, and other regulated entities with respect to compliance issues. He earned his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from George Washington University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Virginia.
James joins as a partner, where he focuses his practice on private and public capital markets, corporate finance and corporate governance issues, with particular emphasis on Regulation A offerings across multiple industries, REITs, 1031 syndications (including DST and TIC offerings), and equity and debt private placements. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the College of William & Mary School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University.
